“We had a baby girl in July of 2007 and soon learned that I was exhausted, healing on many different levels and needed rest. Denise truly seemed to understand how difficult it was for us. We had a mountain of questions and she answered them all with sensitivity and confidence."
-Devon Fischer, CA
“Joan was a wonderful support to our whole family. She helped turn chaotic nights into nights that were peaceful and worry free. She helped our family to follow our own wishes and decisions with confidence. I am forever grateful for the loving care she gave to our babies.”
- The Gleeson Family, CA
"Joan started to work for me when my twins were just a few weeks old; she seems to have a sixth sense with twins! She is capable, caring, creative, thinks ahead and never leaves a job undone. She is absolutely dependable. I would have no hesitation in recommending her for a Postpartum Doula position”
-Honor, CA
What is a postpartum doula and what services will she provide? A postpartum doula is specially trained to provide practical and emotional support to new mothers. Unlike a baby nurse, a doula is not uniquely focused on the baby, but on nurturing the mother and making sure that she is well cared for - rested, fed, hydrated and comfortable. A doula will help the mother care for her baby, often providing breastfeeding guidance, newborn feeding and bathing, and general household support.
All of our postpartum doulas are certified either through DONA International (Doulas of North America), the oldest, largest and most respected doula association in the world, or Natural Resources, a leading independent pregnancy and parenting center in San Francisco. All our Doulas are also certified in Baby's First Massage.
